In their own words…
Betty Camp-
Betty started Bikram Yoga with Donna Trantham 6 years ago. She has also participated in jogging and aerobics in the past.
She practices 3 times per week, and what she likes the most about Bikram Yoga is “having a sense of well being, being flexible, sweating, and it makes my skin glow.” She feels changes in her body such as tighter muscles, more flexibility, and her ability to focus is enhanced.
Overall “It makes you feel good – and you meet nice people.”
Cheryl Kassak-
Cheryl practices Bikram Yoga regularly with her husband, John, about 4 times per week. What she enjoys most is the “stretching, breathing, balancing, concentration, and focus,” she gets from the 90 minute class.
Prior to taking Bikram Yoga Cheryl suffered chronic coughing which is gone now. She has had knee surgery which healed faster through taking the class, and her digestive problems are also gone. She has more energy and has also “lost weight and inches.” She rarely uses any sleep medication any more either.
Cheryl wanted to help others by saying “At first I went with my husband and could not adjust to the heat. Now I love it!”
Debra Leady-
Debra has been practicing Bikram Yoga for about 1 year. She likes that it is “Mellow, yet tough and challenging.” She says this having also participated in aerobics, step, jazzercise, biking, hiking, and swimming.
When Debra first started Bikram Yoga she was scheduled for Carpal Tunnel surgery on her hand. After about a month of coming to class about 3 times per week, she canceled her surgery. She also had (3) herniated cervical spine discs, restricted right shoulder movement, and very dry skin.
Her “skin tone has improved, I have lost approximately 10lbs., and there is muscle toning everywhere” Debra is also glad to be rid of all of the pain medications.
She offers this bit of advice for new students:
“Keep coming! Even when you don’t feel good. Chances are – you will feel better for it.”
